NICO GROUP WELCOMES DEBBIE FULLER AS HIGH-PERFORMANCE CONSULTANT FOR THE MALAWI QUEENS

The NICO Group, which includes NBS Bank and ERIS Properties, has officially welcomed Debbie Fuller to Malawi as the Malawi Queens’ High Performance Netball Consultant, following a press briefing held at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES).

Her appointment represents a key milestone in the three-year commitment by the Group to the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM). Fuller is also expected to help the Malawi Queens intensify preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Australia and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Speaking during the welcome ceremony, NICO Group Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Taweni Gondwe-Xaba, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to the national team, saying the Group is delighted to welcome Debbie Fuller to Malawi.

“Excellence is a core value at NICO Group, and one that the Malawi Queens have consistently demonstrated. We are confident that with Debbie’s arrival, the Queens will return to the top and once again represent Malawi with excellence on the global stage,” Gondwe-Xaba said.

In addition to the sponsorship, NICO General, a subsidiary of NICO Group, has provided travel insurance to Fuller for all her trips in 2026, reinforcing the Group’s holistic support for athlete welfare.

NAM President, Vitumbiko Gubuduza, described the occasion as a monumental moment for the sport.

Gubuduza said, “She is confident that Debbie will work closely with the Malawi Queens to strengthen performance ahead of the Commonwealth Games and World Cup qualifiers.”

In her remarks, Debbie Fuller said it is an honour to be in Malawi and to step onto the court with the players, describing netball as a fundamental part of who she is.

“Growing up in New Zealand, the sport taught me to recognise my potential, understand my strengths, manage failure, and bounce back stronger. Malawi is a proud netball nation with exceptional talent, dedicated people, and a strong collective of women determined to make the sport number one in the country. I am committed to supporting that vision,” Fuller said.

NICO Group remains proud to stand alongside one of Malawi’s most celebrated sporting teams and looks forward to the positive impact of this partnership as the Malawi Queens pursue excellence on the continental and global stage.
