NICO Group, which includes NBS Bank and Eris Properties, has partnered with the Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi (IIA Malawi) as Platinum Sponsor of the 2026 Annual Conference and Governance Forum, with a sponsorship of MWK20 million towards the event.
The conference and governance forum, running from 7–13 September 2026 in Mangochi, will be held under the theme “The Currency of Trust: Governance as Strategy, Assurance as Proof.” It will bring together professionals and stakeholders in internal audit, governance, risk management, and compliance to explore how organisations can strengthen trust, accountability, and resilience.
Speaking during the cheque presentation, NICO Group Head of Risk, Thokozani Phokoso, said the partnership reflects the Group’s commitment to good governance, integrity and responsible corporate citizenship. “We are privileged to be the Platinum Sponsor. At NICO Group, trust is the foundation upon which we have built our business for over 55 years. This partnership is therefore important because we believe in good governance, and it reflects our values of integrity and accountability. IIAM promotes the very principles that safeguard our financial system and drive sustainable growth in Malawi.”
The CEO of IIA Malawi, Albert Dambula expressed appreciation for NICO Group’s support, noting that the partnership provides an important platform for organisations to share knowledge, strengthen assurance and energise one another in building sustainable institutions. IIA Malawi also highlighted that this is the first time the organisation has received this level of support locally for the annual conference.
The partnership also looks ahead to 2027, when IIA Malawi will host the first-ever African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA) Conference in Malawi. The event is expected to attract approximately 2,000 delegates, 65% of whom are anticipated to be international participants. NICO Group is looking forward to supporting this milestone as part of its continued commitment to good governance, corporate citizenship and the development of strong, accountable institutions in Malawi.
