The NICO Group, which includes NBS Bank, ERIS Properties and Blantyre Hotels, held a graduation ceremony for 19 employees from its Leadership Edge Programme, following a six-month leadership development journey aimed at strengthening internal capacity and building a pipeline of future leaders.
The graduation, held at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre on the 29th of April 2026, brought together Executive Management and staff to celebrate the participants’ commitment and growth.
Speaking at the event, the Group Head of People and Culture, Dickens Chaula, noted that the programme focused on shaping well-rounded leaders grounded in values and self-awareness.
“This program has gone beyond building capability, it has shaped identity and defined the kind of leaders we are becoming within the NICO Group,” Chaula said.
NICO Life Chief Executive Officer, Wise Chigudu, highlighted the importance of leadership in driving performance, noting that strong employee results contribute to organisational success and reflect positively on leadership. He expressed confidence that the graduates are now equipped to lead effectively and deliver impact.
“When employees perform well, it reflects on leadership and makes us proud as leaders. I’m confident that our graduates are now ready to lead and deliver real impact” Chigudu said.
The programme was facilitated by ETAL Limited Managing Partner and Founder, Kain Mbaya, alongside his wife Sibongile Mbaya, who commended the NICO Group for investing in a unique and high-impact leadership initiative tailored specifically for the organisation. They also applauded the graduates for their dedication and consistency throughout the six months.
The Leadership Edge Programme is part of the NICO Group’s ongoing commitment to developing its people and fostering a culture of strong, values-driven leadership.
