NICO Group promotes film industry

NICO Group has announced the sponsorship of MK10,000,000.00 towards the premiere of the Highbrow movie premier set for September 2021.

NICO Group Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Lorraine Phiri, said the group is thrilled to witness the local film industry blossoming.

“This sponsorship is to support the entertainment industry and we believe that it is possible to create employment through creative jobs,” Phiri said.

She added that it is high time that the movie industry and its members be appreciated and applauded for the work they do.

“Malawian actors are exceptional and we want to make sure they are aware that they are valued,” Phiri added.

Highbrow is inspired by real life stories surrounding Malawi’s biggest financial scandal – Cashgate. The film was shot in Malawi by a local team and features local actors.

HighBrow’s Director, Chawezi Munthali (Chaz), of Mestina Jelani Films, says Malawi has a lot of stories to share.

“We want to share Malawian stories, for Malawians, and by  Malawians then promote these local stores across the world.” Munthali said.

The premieres will take place on 24 September 2021 at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe and on and 25 September 2021 at Icon Theatre at Chichiri Shopping Centre in Blantyre.
